The Dementors show up just as Harry is frightening Dudley by pretending to perform magic. It is revealed that The Order of the Phoenix was betrayed by Kreacher, Sirius Blacks house elf, when Sirius, in a fit of anger, gave Kreacher an order that permitted him to speak to Sirius cousin, Narcissa Malfoy. Two Dementors attack Harry and Dudley in an alley in Little Whinging. In the movie, there seem to be several days in between, so Harry had some time to cool off and come to terms with Sirius death. They attack Dudley Dursley and, to Harrys complete and utter shock, Figg can see them. Thats up until the Dementors come to Little Whinging during the early moments of the Order of the Phoenix book and movie.
#Dementors from the order of the phoenix movie series#
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was the film that made the series feel dangerous, not just from the return of Voldemort, but from the threat of the Ministry imposing in on Hogwarts. Dementors attack Dudley and Harry, who drives them off with a Patronus Charm. Arabella Figg is just an ordinary muggle, Harry believes. This continued even more in Goblet of Fire when Voldemort returned and it was clear the series wouldn't be the same going forward.

While the first two Harry Potter films introduced audiences to the whimsical world of wizards and witches, the series took a notably dark turn with Prisoner of Azkaban.
